Dear Explorers,

We hope you have a relaxing and rejuvenating spring break starting April 7th!

Don't forget about Spring classroom pictures, they are on Monday, April 14. You can read more about that below.

● We look forward to welcoming your student back on April 14th when school resumes.
● If your family or student needs any support, please don't hesitate to contact Mrs. Tang at 360.279.5270.

As long as your student is feeling well, we encourage consistent attendance. If you have any concerns about your student’s ability to attend school due to health or mental health reasons, please reach out to our nurses at 360.279.5268 or contact Mrs. Tang at 360.279.5270.

Every school day provides valuable opportunities for students to learn and build connections with their peers and teachers.

Until then, enjoy a wonderful spring break!

News From The Library

Happy Spring!

We have been having fun in the library reading more books for our BVE book battle and this year it will be a hard decision. Ask your student which book has been their favorite so far.

We also finished up our Digital Citizenship lesson, learning how to be safe, smart, kind, and responsible when we are online.

As always, please continue to encourage your students to read for at least 20 minutes each day.

Happy Reading!

Family Fitness Tip

Interested in getting out for some fresh air and exploration? We highly recommend the Ebey's Prairie Ridge Trail, which starts at the end of Cemetery Rd in Coupeville. It is a relatively flat trail that takes you along the prairie and ends at the bluff with scenic ocean views (1 mile). Along the hike, you'll pass the following historic sites:

  • Sunnyside Cemetery —The Ebey family as well as many other local historic figures are buried here
  • Davis Blockhouse —A historic building built by the settlers
  • Jacob Ebey Blockhouse and Home — A historical homestead

SOAR (Supporting our Amazing Readers)

Our SOAR program begins in October. Each child in the 1st - 4th grades at Broad View receives reading instruction at their level. Students who receive LAP or Title reading support, resource reading support, and those on or above grade level are all engaged in small group reading instruction at the same time as their grade level peers. This prevents students from missing any core instruction in their classrooms and ensures that ALL students benefit from our Title and LAP programs.

Please look for the SOAR section of this year’s monthly Broad View newsletters for tips and tricks on how to support your readers at home.

As your LAP and Title teachers, we are here to partner with you in meeting your child’s reading needs.

Attendance Matters

Good attendance helps children do well in school and eventually in the workplace. Good attendance matters for school success, starting as early as prekindergarten and throughout elementary school. By middle and high school, poor attendance is a leading indicator of dropout. Developing the habit of attendance prepares students for success on the job and in life. We are lucky to have such great families at Broad View that partner with us to make sure students are at school every day.
